What does it try to accomplish?

The correction of small defects in the skin. It is used to treat fine and deep creases and wrinkles and small depressed scars.

How is it done?

A special solution of hyaluronic acid (which is a structural component of the skin) is injected in gel form with a very fine needle exactly at the site of the defect, thus filling it out and reducing the depth of the crease or scar.

Common complications

Complications are not at all likely. If an area is over corrected there will be a small lump that will last for months. This can be a problem in the fine lines around the eyes so the surgeon will be cautious in this area.

Your surgeon must be properly qualified to do the operation and he will advise you what can and what cannot be achieved in your case. Do take that advice.
